Michael obtained his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Simon Fraser University in 1986. He articled with Deloitte and Touche in downtown Vancouver and obtained his CA designation in 1990. Formally trained in income tax, Michael completed the two year Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants In-Depth Tax course subsequent to obtaining his CA designation. Michael has taught and lectured on taxation throughout his career.

Michael formed Weir and Company Chartered Accountants LLP in 1992. Over the past three decades, the firm has grown to locations in North Vancouver, Port Coquitlam, Squamish and Whistler, serving clients throughout British Columbia.

Michael has considerable experience with income tax issues for owner-managed businesses, as well as professionals. He also has an extensive background in business succession issues, estate planning and wealth preservation, as well as corporate reorganizations and business combinations.
